Animated Intro Sequence
The Challenge
Create a thirty second animation that will be used at the beginning of a how to video. This animation would contain three credits and a title over the span of the thirty second animation. The animation should share a relatively similar theme to the how to video without directly running over the steps of the how to video in the animation.
Ideation
The first thing this project entailed was creating a storyboard for the animation to follow while making sure to plot out the sections for the credits and title portion of the animation.
The storyboard helped to create the loose ideas and motions present in the final animation however the changes between the two are noticeable. Despite this it is clear that this avenue was better both practically and in the sense of how the animation turned out.
The Solution Process
Creating & Collecting Assets
This animation sequence allowed the usage of a much wider variety of assets including, but not limited to, vectors, images, music, sound effects, three dimensional objects, and more. I downloaded vector assets for the card house symbols as well as the decorations on the back of the playing cards off of Adobe Stock. Images were used for the face cards via isolating them as Png’s to be able to be solely manipulated on the frame. Finally I made use of another Adobe Stock item for a three dimensional poker chip to be used in the animation.

Animating and importing assets
Despite the difference in the assets present in the project they come together nicely in the animation when transitioning from one item to the other. This project made a lot of use of key-framing camera movements as well as the echospace effect, the shatter effect, and the grow bounds effect.

Maintaining proper focus and framing with the camera proved difficult for moving shots due to differing speeds and start locations that correlates with the keyframes, however with continually made slight adjustments they were able to be more properly aligned for a better sense of movement and continuity.
